Testimonials

Initially when I started this program about seven months ago, I thought it was just something to do, but the Bible study we do, the Steps to Christ, helped me come to my salvation.  And being able to give back to the community, um, before my incarceration I was always in the taking and never giving back, but since I received Christ through this program, it has opened up a whole new world to me.  Without this program, I don’t know, I would still be lost. — Marion

Thank you SOOO much for the Bags of Hope! They are awesome!!  For the first time in months, I’ve seen a smile on the faces of the women in my dorm.  The article “YOU are Precious to God” was just what I needed!  I talked with everyone and told them to read it—it will change their life forever.  Thank you!  —Jennifer

Thank you for the LAMB Program!  We send our kids cards and handkerchiefs all the time, but the blanket is something more intimate. Whenever they think about us, they get to touch and feel the softness of the blanket and stuffed animal.  We’re not close to them, so this is something they can touch that makes them feel like we care close to them, that “Mom is right here with me.”  Dweikesia

The Sabbath church service is the BEST!  We hear sermons all the time, but I love the way we study the Bible for ourselves in your program.  You make the Bible understandable and practical in my life.  Thank you!  —Kathryn

When I come to your program, I can feel the love of God—it shines through you!  Thank you for all you do.  You’ve changed my life forever. Graviela

Your Bible studies are the BEST of the best!  I’ve been incarcerated for seven years and done many of Bible studies through the years, and the Light 4 Learner Bible lessons are the very best.  Your method of memorizing Bible verses has helped me learn how to memorize Bible verses. I love doing them! —Maria

I love the Knitting Hearts Program!  It makes me feel like I’m doing something good. I’ve manipulated people so much in the past; I’ve used people. It makes me feel like I can actually change, and do something better for folks instead of me, me, me.  —Shawna

I was just denied parole and am heartbroken and struggling.  When I woke up this morning, all I could think was “I need a hug from you.”  Thank you for loving me.  You’ve changed my life forever.  —Rosalind

You did Bible studies with me and wrote to me for ten years, since the beginning of my incarceration.  You have no idea the difference you have made in my life.  I am being baptized as the result of the Bible studies, your love, and your support through the years. —Michael

“The Knitting Hearts Program has been amazing for the women. Sometimes they feel like they can’t do anything.  They’ve never been told “Good job! Look at what you made!”  They take that and find out that they can be creative.”  —Assistant Warden Mary Holligan

“Visiting people in prison gives them a sense of value.  If you can take the time to commit yourself once a month, once a week, once every two months and share the love of God through this program, it will impact more than you know.  It will give years of value, years of encouragement to someone who might not have had that experience in their lives.”  Chaplain Peter Lawson

“If you are considering doing this in your area, do it.! Every prison facility that I know of is always looking for volunteer work, anything that can help the offenders do better, think more positive, give them more prosocial skills, this actually helps them do that.” —Warden James Frawner
